This website aims to touch upon how Music Television, or MTV, inspired a cultural revolution in the 1980's in the United States during the cultural wars. MTV has been called "the most emblematic of the cultural currents of the 1980's"( "Transforming America" by Robert Collins, page 163).This will be accomplished by speaking of how MTV has changed, what has changed, and what these changes resulted in or caused. MTV acted as a sort of gateway, an inspiration to groups to fight back and take a stand. This website was created as an assignment for one of my college honors classes. The assignment was to talk about a great idea. Since music has always played a large part in my life, MTV seemed like the best choice. Upon further research, I realized that MTV was more than just music, but was a gateway for a revolution, a vehicle for people to make a point and be heard in a not so normal way. MTV inspired a cultural revolution as well. All kinds of groups jumped onto MTV's path and began to speak out. MTV has evolved and grown from its creation in the 80's,  is essentially still doing the same today too. Then I thought of YouTube, and how this website gives the same opportunity to the "modern person", their chance to have the spotlight on them and potentially be heard on a global level.
